While many think of Walt Disney World as a place to bring children, Disney is also a fun vacation for adults. Whether you are traveling for a conference, going on an adult-only vacation, or attending one of the runDisney events, there are plenty of reasons to visit the parks alone, with your spouse, or with friends. When planning your adult Disney trip, you may be trying to find the best Disney hotel for adults.

Walt Disney World has a bunch of different hotel options – in various locations, with many different amenities, restaurants, and themes. So, finding the best Disney hotel for adults can be complicated, because there are so many wonderful options to choose from.

Instead, we’ve included six different Walt Disney World hotels to choose from (as well as two bonus hotels on the property). You’ll want to consider your specific situation and vacation plans before deciding which hotel is best.

Remember that all Disney hotels are kid-friendly, so there is no resort strictly for adults. Even the poshest of Disney resorts will have kids staying there.

Six of The Best Disney Hotels for Adults at Walt Disney World

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

If you’d like to be near the Magic Kingdom park, you’ll probably want to stay at one of the resorts located on the monorail. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World, is a strong choice. It was recently renovated and includes some of my favorite restaurants.

The Polynesian is a deluxe resort, with rooms spread across various buildings. The main building houses the Kona Cafe, a casual restaurant serving one of my favorite breakfasts on the property.

There’s also Ohana, which offers breakfast and dinner, and Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a fun tiki-theme bar. Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is open to families during the day but is 21+ after 8 p.m.

I like staying at the Polynesian because it’s convenient to the Magic Kingdom and the other monorail resorts. It also has a fun, casual vibe and a few quieter areas to relax. You can also walk over to the Senses Spa at Disney’s Grand Floridian.

For a more luxurious stay, the Polynesian also offers villas and bungalows. These are the newest sections of the resort and have many great amenities. There’s also a brand-new DVC tower.

To get to the other theme parks, you can take a bus. They leave from the adjacent Ticket and Transportation Center and the Polynesian.

Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter

Port Orleans French Quarter is the first Walt Disney World hotel that I visited with my children. This resort is a moderate Disney resort located in the Disney Springs area. It’s also a small resort, unlike most Disney resorts.

The resort’s size and atmosphere make it great for some adult vacations. If you are looking for a more low-key, laid-back resort, Port Orleans French Quarter is a great option. As a moderate resort, it’s less expensive than some on this list, yet it is still a lot of fun.

The resort is connected to a second section called Port Orleans Riverside. That’s a much busier resort, but all of those activities and amenities are available to guests on the French Quarter side. It’s also near Disney Springs, and there’s a boat ride that can take you right there.

Port Orleans French Quarter offers bus transportation to the four theme parks. That may take a little more time than other Disney transportation options, so you’ll want to consider that before booking.

Port Orleans French Quarter doesn’t have a table-service restaurant, but there is one within walking distance at Port Orleans Riverside. However, the French Quarter side does have a lounge called Scat Cat’s Club.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the poshest and most elegant of the Walt Disney World resort hotels. While it is still very welcoming to families with children, it’s one of the best Disney hotels for adults.

Like the Polynesian Resort, the Grand Floridian is located on the monorail. A new walking path connects it directly to the Magic Kingdom, so you can go there without taking the monorail. It’s incredibly convenient if you are planning to spend a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom.

The Grand Floridian’s grand lobby is very welcoming and luxurious. The upper lobby area features several stores and boutiques, as well as other amenities that are great for adults. A Senses Spa is located at the edge of the property and is the ideal spot for a relaxing treatment.

Many Grand Floridian dining experiences are ideal for an adult-only vacation. Victoria and Albert’s is a fine-dining restaurant open only to guests aged 10 and older. There are several dining options, including the chef’s table.

Other restaurants at the Grand Floridian include Citricos, 1900 Park Fare, the Enchanted Rose, and Narcoossee’s. All are great for adults. During your vacation, you can easily take the monorail to the Contemporary and the Polynesian for other dining options.

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is one of my favorite areas of Walt Disney World, and the Boardwalk Inn resort is the most convenient. Despite the hustle and bustle of the Boardwalk entertainment district, the resort is relaxing and quiet.

The Boardwalk Inn offers all of the restaurants of the Boardwalk, including the Flying Fish and Trattoria al Forno. It’s also home to several fun bars, including Boardwalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas (a kiosk – not a full bar), Leaping Horse Libations (at the pool), and Abracadabar (my personal favorite). The resort offers additional amenities, including tennis courts.

Guests of the Boardwalk are closest to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios (though it is a long walk to Hollywood Studios). Friendship boat service is also available to those theme parks, or you can walk. The Skyliner can be taken from either theme park and takes you to several Disney resorts, including Pop Century, Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Riviera Resort.

A bus service is available for guests visiting Animal Kingdom Park, Disney Springs, or the Magic Kingdom. I prefer the Boardwalk when I plan to spend more time at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is another moderately priced resort that is great for adults. It’s enormous, with numerous buildings surrounding a large lake. In addition, the new Gran Destino Tower recently opened, offering even more guest rooms and amenities.

In addition to being a family-friendly, moderate resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs offers a large conference center that attracts many conventions. Therefore, it offers many adult-friendly activities and amenities, especially popular in the evenings after the conventions end.

Restaurants and bars at Coronado Springs include the Rix Sports Bar and Grill, the Dahlia Lounge, the Barcelona Lounge, Siestas Cantina (by the pool), El Mercado de Coronado (food court), Toledo (tapas), the Maya Grill, and the outdoor Laguna Bar. With so many options, you can spend most of your evenings at the hotel if you don’t want to venture out.

Coronado Springs Resort is located in the Animal Kingdom area of Walt Disney World, but you can’t walk to the park. Instead, you must take a bus to all four theme parks. This is the one downside of Coronado Springs, but as a moderate resort, you’ll likely save money on your trip by booking there instead of a deluxe resort.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club (and its sister resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort) is my favorite resort location on the property. It’s near the Boardwalk Inn between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT’s World Showcase. Guests at the Yacht Club can either choose to walk right to either park or take a Friendship Boat. You’ll have to take a bus to visit Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, or the Magic Kingdom.

Because EPCOT’s World Showcase offers many events that appeal specifically to adults, such as the International Wine and Food Festival, the Festival of the Arts, and the Flower and Garden Festival, this location is especially attractive given its proximity and short walk. Getting to and from the World Showcase is easy, and it can be especially great after a long day.

Both the Yacht Club and the Beach Club share one of the best amenities at a Disney Resort—the large water feature area known as Stormalong Bay. Kids love Stormalong Bay, but I also enjoy cooling off in the sandy-bottom pool as an adult. It’s one of the most beautiful pools at Walt Disney World.

You may wonder why we’ve listed the Yacht Club specifically, given that both resorts offer similar amenities. While they are both wonderful resorts, I find the Beach Club more fun and vibrant, while the Yacht Club is more elegant and laid-back.

Within these resorts, you’ll also find several dining options, including the Cape May Cafe, the Yachtsman Steakhouse, the Ale and Compass, Martha’s Vineyard lounge, and Beaches and Cream. You’ll also be within walking distance of the restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin, as well as those at the Boardwalk.

The Yacht Club also offers a few retail shops, a business center, and a spa and fitness center. Tennis courts are also available to guests.

Bonus: The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts

As a bonus, I also wanted to include two hotels that are great for adults but aren’t specifically considered Disney resorts.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resorts are located on Disney property by the Boardwalk and Yacht Club. They are in a highly convenient location and are among the best hotels in the area. There is also the Swan Reserve, which features 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom suites.

However, guests at the Swan and Dolphin don’t get all of the same amenities as on-property guests. They do, however, get to use transportation between the parks, which can be very helpful.

While the Swan and Dolphin are extremely comfortable hotels with great amenities, they don’t have the same theming as the Disney resorts, so kids may not be as excited about them. Adults, however, will appreciate the comfortable rooms and the delicious restaurants.
