The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert after routine testing confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in Chicken Caesar wraps sold at Holiday convenience stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The wraps were produced by Taher Inc. in Plymouth, Minnesota, on June 16. The product is sold in 8.7-oz. packages labeled “FRESH SEASONS Kitchen Chicken Caesar Wrap” with a sell-by date of June 24, 2026.
FSIS didn’t request a recall because the wraps are no longer available for purchase. However, the agency said some products could still be in consumers’ or retailers’ refrigerators. Consumers shouldn’t eat the wraps and should discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
Retailers shouldn’t sell or serve the product.
According to FSIS, the contamination was identified during routine product testing after a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The agency said there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to the wraps. FSIS said anyone concerned about illness after eating the Chicken Caesar wraps should contact a healthcare provider.
What is Listeria? And, is Listeria Deadly?
Listeria monocytogenes can cause a serious illness called listeriosis. Symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, headache, nausea, vomiting and neck stiffness. Those who are pregnant, newborns, senior citizens, and people with weakened immune systems are at the greatest risk of severe illness.
Pregnant consumers may experience only mild flu-like symptoms, but the infection can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or a life-threatening infection in a newborn.
The alert comes as federal and state health officials continue investigating a separate Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to soft cheese produced by Clover Hill Dairy in Maryland.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, that outbreak has been associated with 12 illnesses, including 10 hospitalizations and one death.
