Pixar’s biggest hits tend to be its sequels, but it’s still in the business of telling incredible original stories too, like this year’s Hoppers. Another animal-focused tale is arriving in 2027, sandwiched in the studio’s release calendar between Toy Story 5 and The Incredibles 3, and the first teaser trailer is here.
It still reminds us a bit of Flow, but Gatto looks to have plenty of endearing Pixar flavor too. Cats want to be tough, but they sure can’t resist a dangling object! This is more of a clip than a traditional teaser but still offers a fun little glimpse of the film’s main characters, animation style, and lighthearted tone.
Yep, that is Mark Ruffalo as Nero, the black cat, and Laurence Fishburne as the much bigger tough-guy puffball, doing their best to interrogate a suspected tuna thief despite some tempting distractions.
Here’s the official synopsis: “In Gatto, after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy, Nero begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives. Indebted to Rocco, the local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first.”
Directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, who previously made the Oscar-nominated Luca, Gatto hits theaters March 5, 2027.
