Political campaigning coverage restricted while polls openpublished at 13:59 BST
The BBC, like other broadcasters, is not allowed to report details of campaigning or election issues while polls are open.
Coverage of what is happening on the day is usually restricted to uncontroversial factual accounts, such as the appearance of politicians at polling stations, or the weather.
The BBC, however, is still able to report on events, including other politics, which happen on polling day but are not directly related to the elections.
You can read more details about the reporting restrictions in this report from the time last month’s Holyrood election.
