If you travel frequently and still carry a bulky adapter setup, the TESSAN AERO 70 might be worth paying attention to. TESSAN, a global travel-charging brand with over 20 million customers, has officially launched the AERO 70 Smart Travel Adapter on Kickstarter, pitching it as the world’s thinnest smart travel adapter and we all love thinner adapters.
I’ve reviewed a few universal, travel adapters here at Craving Tech from various brands like these Zendure Passport II Pro and Passport III.
The AERO 70 measures just 89 × 50 × 33 mm, which is 40% smaller than a traditional travel adapter. For anyone who has ever had a chunky adapter hog an entire power strip on the road, that kind of reduction in size sounds pretty awesome. At 210g, it is also light enough to toss into a carry-on without thinking twice.
The TESSAN’s TFFC 2.0 (Full Scene Fast Charging) technology makes the AERO 70 the world’s first travel adapter to support Apple’s AVS (Adaptive Voltage Scaling) protocol. In practical terms, this means the adapter dynamically adjusts voltage output to match what the device actually needs, which TESSAN claims can bring a battery to 50% charge in around 20 minutes. Whether real-world results consistently hit that number remains to be seen, but the underlying technology is sound. AVS is a relatively new protocol that Apple introduced to improve charging efficiency across its devices.
Charging capacity is also a highlight. The AERO 70 supports up to five devices simultaneously through a combination of AC, USB-C, and USB-A ports. The primary USB-C port delivers up to 70W, which is more than enough for a MacBook or a modern laptop like my Dell XPS 13 work laptop, while the two additional USB-C ports offer 20W each for phones and tablets. There is also a USB-A port at 18W for older accessories, and a built-in cable that reduces the need to carry yet another cord. For anyone travelling with a laptop, two phones, a pair of wireless earbuds, and a camera, having all of that covered from a single adapter is very convenient.
The AERO 70 also introduces a real-time smart display, which shows voltage, wattage, socket current, and temperature at a glance. This is a feature I personally find useful. Plugging into an unfamiliar outlet in a hotel in Southeast Asia or Europe and having no idea whether the power draw is safe is a real concern. The built-in monitoring system alerts users to overloads, abnormal temperatures, and unsafe conditions, backed by over-current, over-voltage, short-circuit, and overheating protection. This feature is quite unique, intuitive, and also looks cool.
The adapter covers 100–250V input and supports devices up to 2500W, so hair dryers and travel irons should work without issue in most countries.
Global coverage is comprehensive with plug types for the US, UK, EU, and AU regions built in, covering more than 200 countries and territories. The housing is made from flame-retardant polycarbonate rated at 94V-0, which is the standard you want to see in a product that handles high-wattage loads. TESSAN also holds over 300 patents and has received multiple international design awards, so the company is not a newcomer to this space.
The Kickstarter campaign runs until 30 July 2026, with early bird pricing starting at $69 (RRP $129). Backers can expect delivery in August, with a wider retail launch expected around the same time. If you are in the market for a slim, multi-device travel adapter that actually shows you what is happening with your power, the TESSAN AERO 70 is shaping up to be one of the more practical travel accessories to launch this year.
