The Yucatán Peninsula’s ultra-luxury liftoff continues.
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts has opened The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, the brand’s long-awaited entry into one of Mexico’s fastest-rising luxury destinations and a debut advisors have been watching closely as Costa Mujeres cements its status as a premier retreat north of Cancún.
The beachfront resort sits in the tranquil Costa Mujeres enclave, framed by white sand beaches, crystal blue waters, protected mangroves, and the world’s second-largest barrier reef. Positioned near the historic El Meco archaeological site, it draws on the region’s Maya heritage and its connection to land and sea, blending cultural storytelling with coastal seclusion and the brand’s signature rituals.

“St. Regis has long defined where luxury chooses to be, and Costa Mujeres marks an important next chapter in the brand’s expansion across Mexico,” Federico Greppi, president of Marriott International‘s Caribbean and Latin America region, said in prepared remarks. “With this opening, we are bringing St. Regis to one of the country’s most sought-after emerging destinations, reinforcing our commitment to growth in the region and the growing appeal of Costa Mujeres as a luxury market.”
Designed by architectural firm Sordo Madaleno, the resort is a glass and concrete vision that follows the line of the coast. Intricate stonework references the nearby ancient Maya port of El Meco, while sculptural lighting nods to the celestial symbolism of Ixchel and Itzamná. In the lobby, a dramatic chandelier evokes the movement of the Caribbean Sea and the region’s sacred cenotes, while woven textures, bentwood furnishings, hand-painted murals, and brass accents throughout celebrate the artistry of the Yucatán Peninsula.
The property features 163 guest rooms and 50 suites, many with private balconies overlooking the Caribbean. Signature accommodations include the Caroline Astor and Presidential suites, and guests have access to the brand’s signature St. Regis Butler Service.
Dining is a centerpiece, with nine food and beverage outlets. Costa Coral, the all-day venue, takes a contemporary lens on Mexican traditions; Fish Market focuses on Caribbean-inspired seafood and local catch; Palmare Grill leans into Mexican coastal cuisine; and Shami, a rooftop concept, fuses Japanese technique with ingredients of the Mexican Caribbean.
Programming pairs St. Regis traditions like Afternoon Tea and Evening Champagne Sabrage with sunrise ceremonies, ocean excursions supporting coral reef restoration, hands-on workshops, and social gatherings at venues including The St. Regis Bar and Jack’s Club.
At the heart of the resort, The St. Regis Spa offers a thermal circuit with aromatic steam, hydrotherapy experiences, the Iridium Lounge, and 16 treatment suites, including two Signature Spa Suites with private Jacuzzis. Treatments blend internationally renowned skincare with traditional Mexican healing ingredients, anchored by the signature Sea Salt Spa Treatment inspired by the Maya civilization’s connection to the mineral. Guests also have an oceanfront infinity pool, a fitness center with Caribbean views, a Kids Club, and roughly 9,687 square feet of event space, including the Astor Ballroom, for weddings and milestone occasions.
“From its founding by John Jacob Astor IV over a century ago, the vision of St. Regis has been shaped by a spirit of exploration, journeying to the world’s most enchanting destinations and creating places that embody both grandeur and a lasting allure,” George Fleck, senior vice president and global brand leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, said. “Today, across our expanding resort portfolio, we honor that legacy by bringing the brand’s signature rituals, refined sense of celebration, and modern glamour to extraordinary locales around the globe. With The St. Regis Costa Mujeres Resort, Cancún, we extend this heritage to one of the Mexican Caribbean’s most captivating settings and curating exceptional experiences in destinations that inspire and endure.”
