KANSAS CITY — The breakfast category is expanding with new innovations.

Mars, Inc. is unveiling Eggo Zero, a line of frozen waffles free from added sugar. Available in buttermilk and blueberry varieties, the waffles are sweetened with monk fruit and stevia extract. The waffles are free from artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners. The buttermilk variety contains 12 grams of protein per serving, and the blueberry variety features 11 grams of protein per serving.

“We know today’s consumers are looking for more from their breakfast — they want options that fit their lifestyles without giving up the foods they grew up loving,” said Cara Tragseiler, growth and marketing lead, Eggo.

Kevin’s Natural Foods is launching a breakfast line. Kevin’s Scramble Starters features four frozen varieties intended to be paired with eggs: Denver-style ham and white cheddar, spinach and bacon Florentine, Tex-Mex style avocado chicken and ranchero sirloin steak.

“Consumers shouldn’t have to choose between convenience and a delicious breakfast,” said Becky Graham, chief marketing officer at Kevin’s Natural Foods. “We saw an opportunity to create something entirely new — a satisfying product that brings together the ease of frozen with the experience of cooking fresh, all while delivering the clean ingredients and great taste that Kevin’s fans expect.”

Sweet Loren’s is expanding into the breakfast category with a lineup of ready-to-bake breakfast products. The launch features oatmeal bars and scones. The bars are offered in flavors such as chocolate chunk, apple cinnamon and maple brown sugar. The scones are available in chocolate chunk and cinnamon brown sugar.
