Selfridges confirmed to Drapers that it has entered into a consultation process with employees as it aims to align parts of the business with its “strategic and financial objectives”.
Impacted roles are understood to include positions across IT support, business analysis, service improvement and digital operations.
A spokesperson for Selfridges told Drapers: “We are proposing changes to some of our head office teams in line with our strategic and financial objectives.
“We are working through the details and ways to mitigate a proposed 2% reduction in our overall headcount as part of a consultation process with our teams.”
The proposed redundancies come as retailers across the sector continue to review costs and organisational structures amid ongoing economic pressure and shifting consumer demand.
The news comes weeks after Selfridges increased pay for its shop floor staff by 6%, taking minimum hourly pay to £13.45 nationally and £14.80 in London from 1 April 2026.
